Cricut cutting mat
Cardstock or thick paper in two different colors
Glue
Ribbon or twine (optional)
Here’s a simple step-by-step guide for making paper Cricut bookmark:
1. Download the SVG files.
2. Open Cricut Design Space.
3. Upload the SVG files.
4. If needed, resize the SVG. Common bookmark heights are between 6 to 8 inches.
5. Duplicate the bookmark element.
6. Click on the duplicated element.
7. Select the Contour option.
8. Hide all contours except for the hole meant for the twine or ribbon. Then, close the Contour option. Note: If you don’t want a hole at the top of the bookmark, you can hide it in both the front and back layers.
9. You can change the color of the duplicated element if you want.
10. Prepare the cardstock on the cutting mat.
11. Choose the appropriate material setting.
12. Start cutting both layers.
13. Detach the bookmark from the cutting mat.
14. Glue the two layers together.

Here’s a simple step-by-step guide for making acrylic vinyl Cricut bookmark:
1. Download the SVG files: Begin by downloading the SVG files required for the project.
2. Open Cricut Design Space: Launch the Cricut Design Space software on your computer or mobile device.
3. Upload the SVG files: In Design Space, locate the “Upload” icon and click on it. Then, select the SVG files you downloaded and follow the prompts to upload them into the software.
4. Resize the SVG: Adjust the size of the SVG files to match the dimensions of your acrylic plate. Use the resizing tools in Design Space to make the necessary adjustments.
5. Prepare the vinyl: Place the vinyl on the cutting mat with the sticky side facing down. Ensure that it is properly aligned and adhered to the mat.
6. Choose the appropriate material setting: Select the appropriate material setting for cutting vinyl in Design Space. This setting ensures that the machine applies the correct pressure and speed for clean and precise cuts.
7. Start cutting the vinyl: Load the cutting mat with the vinyl into your Cricut machine and initiate the cutting process in Design Space. Follow the on-screen instructions to begin cutting the vinyl.
8. Weed the cut vinyl: Once the cutting is complete, carefully remove the excess vinyl from the cut design using tweezers and a weeding tool. Take your time to ensure clean and accurate results.
9. Apply transfer tape: Place transfer tape over the cut vinyl design and use a burnishing tool to firmly adhere the tape to the vinyl.
10. Cut the transfer tape: Trim the transfer tape around the vinyl design to make it easier to apply onto the acrylic surface.
11. Apply the vinyl on the acrylic: Carefully position the vinyl design on the acrylic surface, ensuring proper alignment. Use a burnishing tool to firmly adhere the vinyl to the acrylic. If there are multiple colors, refer to the file preview to determine the order of application.
12. Peel off the transfer tape: Gently peel off the transfer tape, leaving the vinyl design securely attached to the acrylic. Repeat these steps for each layer of the design until all layers are finished.
